You Shouldn't Have to Leave Their Side to Find a Notary

When someone you love is in the hospital or a care facility, time matters and details matter. We understand the weight of these moments — and we come to you.

No need to transport documents or a vulnerable family member. We travel directly to hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and assisted living facilities throughout Charlotte and Monroe.

Urgency Understood

Medical situations don't wait. When timing is critical — a surgery, discharge, or a change in health — we work quickly to coordinate availability and arrive as soon as possible.

Compassionate & Professional

We treat every signing with the sensitivity these situations deserve. Whether it's an estate document or an emergency healthcare directive, we handle it with care and discretion.

Experienced with Facility Signings

Frank Coxx has experience navigating hospital protocols, coordinating with nursing staff, and working in environments where signers may have limited mobility. We know how these signings work.

Common Documents for Hospital & Nursing Home Signings

These are among the most frequent documents we help families and facilities process at the bedside in Charlotte and Monroe, NC.

Durable Power of Attorney — Grants authority over financial and legal matters when a person can no longer act for themselves.

Healthcare Power of Attorney — Authorizes a trusted person to make medical decisions on the signer's behalf.

Living Will / Advance Directive — Documents a person's end-of-life medical care wishes.

Affidavits — Sworn written statements for legal, insurance, or estate purposes.

Last Will & Testament — Notarized witness signatures for will execution when time-sensitive.

Trust Documents — Amendments, certifications of trust, and related estate planning paperwork.

Deed Transfers — Real property documents requiring notarization as part of estate or care planning.

Authorization & Consent Forms — Facility admission authorizations and consent documents requiring a notary.

Other Personal & Legal Documents — Insurance assignments, beneficiary designations, and similar paperwork.

Important: Notarization requires that the signer be of sound mind, willing to sign without pressure, and able to present a valid, government-issued photo ID. As a notary, I do not provide legal advice and cannot advise on whether a document is legally sufficient for your situation. Please consult an attorney for legal guidance.

Common Questions About Hospital & Nursing Home Notarizations

Can you come the same day?
Same-day service is available when our schedule allows. For urgent situations — especially when a patient's condition is changing — please call us directly at 980-505-8050 rather than submitting the form so we can check availability right away. We do our best to accommodate time-sensitive requests in Charlotte and Monroe.
What ID does the signer need?
North Carolina notary law requires the signer to present a valid, government-issued photo ID — such as a driver's license, state ID card, or passport. If the signer does not have accessible ID, please let us know before we arrive so we can discuss options. Hospital staff cannot serve as ID substitutes, but specific credible-witness procedures may apply in some cases.
Does the signer need to be fully alert and aware?
Yes. A notary's core responsibility is to verify that the signer understands what they are signing and is acting freely and willingly. If the signer is sedated, unconscious, or unable to communicate clearly, the document cannot be notarized at that time. If there is any question about mental competency or awareness, consulting an attorney first is strongly recommended.
Do you coordinate with hospital or nursing home staff?
Yes. We are experienced at working within healthcare facility environments. We follow visitor protocols, check in with nursing staff, and work in a way that does not disrupt patient care. Let us know if the facility has any specific access requirements and we will plan accordingly.
Do you provide witnesses?
As a notary, I do not act as a witness myself. Some documents — particularly wills and certain healthcare directives — require one or two witnesses in addition to notarization. It is the responsibility of the signer and their family to arrange appropriate witnesses. We can let you know what a specific document typically requires when you call.
What happens if you arrive and the signer cannot sign?
If we arrive and the signer is unable to sign due to incapacity, changes in condition, or lack of proper ID, the notarization cannot be completed. This is why we encourage you to confirm the signer's condition and readiness before scheduling, and to call us if the situation is uncertain so we can advise you appropriately.
Do you handle real estate closings too?
Yes. While this page focuses on hospital and nursing home notarizations, Integrity Closings CLT also provides general mobile notary and loan signing services in the Charlotte and Monroe area. Visit our main site or contact us to discuss your specific needs.
